The Rick Owens pieces available at CoutureLab are from the last collections before his departure from Revillon was announced, and are now extremely collectable. These items, which are only available at CoutureLab, are luxuriously relaxed, understated and timeless.
When Rick Owens took the helm as artistic director for Revillon in 2003, having won the CFDA award for new talent a year previously, the traditional fur house took a modern turn. As Owens says: "I am designing for my age [41 at the time], and I am trying to show fur in a realistic way - with old T-shirts and jeans". Originally from Southern California, his is an aesthetic shaped by black and white Hollywood movies fused with relaxed, LA Viper-room style. He is credited with creating the word "glunge" - glamour/grunge.
Just as John Galliano smashed the restrained, bourgeois image at Dior, Owens knocked the stuffiness out of furs. His minimalist approach and gothic hints creates a look which is about style rather than status. In contrast to the voluminous outerwear, this collection also features delicate under layers; the bias-cut silk designs drape the body with fluid movement and his effortless knitwear collection of luxurious leggings and wrap-cardigans are the epitome of comfort.
The beautiful fur pieces in the Rick Owens for Revillon collection are available exclusively for CoutureLab members.
