In 2007 when Parisian designer Ramdane Touhami discovered the brand for himself, he fell in love with the heritage, craftsmanship and tradition it symbolized. Touhami was asked to create new candle scents for the brand which would re-introduce Cire Trudon to the world of home fragrance. His passion for the candle-makers origins drove him to immerse himself into the archives of Cire Trudon for two years, and he exclaimed that ‘In the past lay everything we needed for the future’.
Once his research was complete the designer began to accumulate the highest quality ingredients including vegetable waxes made from palm oil, rice, soy and copra (coconut). Cire Trudon candles are 100% bio-degradable and leave no sooty deposits on the glass holder. The ingredients found in the candles are more expensive than paraffin wax, and have been choose as they omit less indoor air pollution. The larger candles have a burn time of approximately 70 hours and the smaller candles burn for 25 to 30 hours.

Unlike scented candles with perfume similar to those worn on the body, Cire Trudon scents are inspired by nostalgic places, memories of times and era’s long gone. The varied selection available at CoutureLab have been chosen specifically to showcase the vast reach of memories, inspiring people and times captured by the brand. ‘Mademoiselle de La Valliere’ carries the essence of Louise de La Valliere, the provincial blond and blue-eyed mistress of Louis XIV, ‘Chandernagor’ is an awakening of clandestine silks and colorful spices from an Indian harbor opening on to Asia. The fragrance of ‘high mass’ and ancient churches has been captured in ‘Spiritus Sancti’ and the sweet powdered air of a French boudoir drifts gently from ‘La Marquise’
The fresh and clean scent of ‘ Manon’ draws to mind the happy lives of the ‘Lavandiéres’, young girls who washed linens in the transparent streams of Provence. Under warm sunshine, embroidered sheets were hung to dry on fragrant Lavender bushes. A citrus sweet smell of Orange trees mingling with triple-milled soap adds helps to bring this simple yet luxurious scent to life.

For the unique range, a special glass to match the splendor and detail of the product had to be devised. Enlisting the help of Astier de Villate, Cire Trudon travelled to Vinci in Italy where master craftsmen conceived unique hand-blown candle glass. Its deep color and its smart irregular profile vary for each glass: capturing the essence of true luxury and craftsmanship, no two glasses are identical.
The gold label adorning the candles are produced exclusively for Cire Trudon by the oldest champagne label maker in France. Sporting embossed golden letters, it features the motto of the Maison de Cire Trudon since Louis XIV: ‘Deoregique laborant’ (they work for both God and the King).
It would seem that as much pleasure has been found in the creation of this unique candle collection as you will have with enjoying the warm glow and scent in your home. Cire Trudon candles are more than room fragrances, the history and craftsmanship blended into each one combines the essence of a special moment in time. So as you find yourself relax with the luxurious scent, close your eyes and find yourself transported to another place.
