Work: The Kimono has become her signature piece…
With Saint Barths’ unique atmosphere and international clientele as inspiration, Faby Jaca set about designing and creating her first piece, the kimono, which has since become her signature piece. It was an instant success. In 2004, with the help of her sister Nanou, Faby Jaca was able to fully express her passion for fashion by launching the brand Lolita Jaca, of which she is the exclusive designer. The name Lolita Jaca was inspired by Nabokov’s romantic, sensual and mischievous heroine.
How would you describe your work?

Somewhere in the world of travel, cruise and luxury.
Which products are you most proud of?
The kimono.

How is this item crafted and what is the process?
Each piece is hand made. Based on my journeys to different places I start to select the most beautiful fabrics; it can be a completely hand-made embroidered saree or a sourcing of some pieces of vintage fabrics.
Who is it made by?
An expert tailor specialized in sewing creates these exceptional pieces in our own clothing workshop.
How long does it take?
It depends on the chosen fabric, on the embroidery but it can take several days or longer, there is no defined rules as the work is always different.
Where are the materials sourced?
In India, for the chromatic wealth and the large choice of embroideries, but each county has its own specialties with exceptional know-how.
Ultimately what makes the piece special?
The fact that it is a unique, elegant piece.
What is the inspiration behind?
The 1930s remains one of the most important sources of inspiration for the shapes and fabrics.
What was your earliest ambition?
To remain free.
Who was your mentor – and what’s the most wise thing they taught you?
Christiane Celle who is the founder of the famous stores Calypso and now the owner of the CLIC galleries in the US. She taught me risk-taking, spontaneity, and she revealed my artistic potential.
