Inspired by Japanese body armour, his unique construction technique utilizes waxed cotton cord, weaved through lace patterns, to create organic sculptural shapes on tight fitting cashmere dresses. His clothes experiment with weights and layering, accented by long fringes, to produce an aesthetic that's mathematically exact and truly timeless. Bespoke and 100% handcrafted, each piece takes up to three weeks to complete. In Derek's intricate black cord and cashmere waistcoat, you're a couture fascination. Spirals of waxed cotton twine surface the tailored, super-soft shell to form a flexing carapace.
