The wood acquired for Ernst Gamperl's sculptures are from fallen trees that could no longer stand against natural conditions. The lifeless copper beech wood has been lathe-turned and sanded to create a smooth textured bowl. The interior of the bowl has been beeswax treated enhancing the wood's unusual deep black grain. The tactile exterior of the bowl has been washed with water and sand, giving it a 'suede' feel. The bowl has a spherical shape; the base is rounded yet remains balanced.
The inscription, 183/06//160, on the base of the sculpture is significant to its story; the work number and year it was made and the age of the tree respectively. This combined age represents the new constant energy of its newly given life.
