The Divinité series by Astuguevieille comprises various sculptures, representative of those venerated in the Imaginary Civilization. This is the first series of miniature sculptures that Astuguevieille has created. They embody the grandeur of a full-size sculpture but on a much smaller scale. To create this sculpture, Astuguevieille used an ancient, complex bronze casting method called cire perdue (lost wax). This technique enables the final sculpture to retain all the detail from the canvas original, without any characteristic being lost in the casting process. In this case, the original patchwork remains visible and tactile.
This 'Matour' statuette is marked 1/8, as part of a limited edition series of eight that is exclusive to CoutureLab.
