Fali are an indigenous tribe living in the mountains of North Cameroon. These dolls are traditionally created for the fiancée of the betrothed young Fali man. The doll symbolizes their marriage and future child and is bestowed the gender that the man desires of his first born. The perfectly rounded female proportions indicate the desire for a beautiful daughter. The wood carving is swathed in colorful glass beads and leather strung cowrie shells.

Each doll is a one-off unique piece created entirely by hand.
