An example of exquisite craftsmanship, this one of a kind Indian necklace features a string of intricately hand-painted scenes of Indian culture. Each piece is protected with a glass covering and encircled with 18 karat yellow gold. In age-old Mughal Kundan style, the center disc is accentuated with diamonds. One of the oldest forms of jewelry design, Kundan is a particular style of stone setting, whereby the hollows in which the gems are to be set are filled with pure gold, before being studded with diamonds. Traditionally, and in the case of this necklace, colorful enameling, or meenakari, decorates the underside of each disc. This unusual piece fastens with a cord tie at the back of the neck.
