Weaving is a craft shared by many of the Mali tribes. These particular pieces resemble the work of the
Banama tribe. Such fabrics were originally made for ritual use but are now decorative designs produced for contemporary uses. Such geometric motifs are still thought to have been woven on a horizontal loom, the same method that was introduced sometime in the first millennium.
