Ernst Gamperl's unique sculptures are more about form rather than utility. The wood acquired for Gamperl's sculptures are from fallen trees that could no longer stand against natural conditions. The lathe-turned interior has been smoothed, highlighting the natural markings; the brown and grey streaks in the grain cascade down the length of the cylinder, appearing almost fluid. The wood's grid like surface has been intricately carved with precise laser techniques. This systematic texture encircles the structure resonating movement to the organic indentations; injecting energy into the wood's natural rhythm.
The inscription, 4/07//100, on the base of the sculpture is significant to its story; the day and year it was made and the age of the tree respectively. This combined age represents the new constant energy of its newly given life.
